At its core, the sun is 27 million degrees Fahrenheit. Amazingly, all life on Earth relies on the rays of the sun. This abundant energy source ultimately provides wind energy, hydroelectric power, and even fossil fuels. Thanks to solar panels, we can use the sun to power our homes, businesses and communities. 

Solar Power Deployment Soars

The use of solar energy has skyrocketed in the last decade as technology advances and prices plummet. Meanwhile, concern about the health of our planet and future generations increases. Now, renewable energy primarily comprises the majority of new power generating capacity in the United States, with wind and solar energy topping the list.

Georgia: a Hotbed for Solar Energy

With plenty of sunlight hours throughout the year and comprehensive net metering laws, Georgia and the Southeast states are among some of the highest-ranking in the United States. Solar energy deployment is also a driving force in the economy, with an estimated 4,800 solar energy jobs in Georgia alone. In fact, a North Georgia factory is the largest manufacturer of solar panels in the Western Hemisphere! This plant produces 12,000 panels daily.

Technology Advancements Boost Efficiency

The renewable energy field has benefitted dramatically from equipment innovation. Solar panel efficiency has soared while also falling in price. Inverters can more effectively compensate for production losses from shading. Although still relatively expensive, innovative solar batteries are now widely available. As demand for solar storage increases, prices are likely to fall.
